Welcome!

Hi friends! This blog is for teachers and families- all for the sheer joy of literacy. When we are enthusiastic about reading and writing our students and our own kids become excited to read and write. I hope that we all can be models for those in our care- how did you show your passion for reading, writing, learning, language, or words today?? It's in those small, daily moments that we teach kids to love literacy.

The Sunday Scoop: Link Up Fun!

This blog is mostly professional, so I tend to stay close to the topic at hand- literacy. I have a personal blog, but it's been neglected for the past several months. I decided to stray a little from this blog's topic and share tidbits about life once and a while (just for fun). I'm happy to link up with my friend over at An Irregular Silsbee.

Fa La La La La La La La La:
Even though it may be cliche, I love Christmas! This weekend I sprayed painted our cards all pretty. I made 2 different stencils (Joy, Paz) and went to it. I like the way they turned out....however DIY feels a little more expensive than cheapo photo cards. However- it's an excuse to create! I banged these out yesterday while my little one napped. We also got a tiny table-top tree today. It's perfect! My heart melted when my just-turned-2-year-old said, "It's pretty." I think my hubby will kill me soon with my Christmas fever, especially the xmas music streaming from Pandora non-stop. I'm just having so much fun!
Kitchen Madness!
We tried to sell our very cute and VERY small house last year, and the market was a bust!! So after packing up our entire house, staging things all pretty, moving to my mom's for a while-- it didn't sell. After regrouping, we decided to redo our kitchen a la IKEA. This update will make living in a less than 900 square foot house doable. We are both teachers, and we're able to order our *new* kitchen at IKEA last week over our thanksgiving break. I'm excited for the details: farmhouse sink, raven counter tops, and new appliances all around!! It was also pretty sweet that IKEA was having a 20% off sale.

I hope you all have a great week! We have 3 weeks left of school until our winter break (3 weeks long!).

Be Well! Read On! and hop over to An Irregular Silsbee.

  1. Yay! You linked! :D
I still don't have a full grasp on the link tool yet. I will conquer it! *shakes fist*

I am very envious of your farmhouse sink.
And I know what you mean about diy cards seeming more expensive than store-bought. But they're just so much fun to make! I made all of mine a couple of years back, and it was just out of control. ;)

Happy crafting, and have a good week!
